Abstract:
In order to explore the response of seeds germination and seedling growth of red clover(Trifolium pratense L.) and white clover(Trrifolium repens L.) to stimulated acid rain. Under the acid rain conditions at pH 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 levels, the germination potential, germination rate, germination index, vigor index, seedling fresh and dry weight of two types of legume forage seeds were observed and analysed. The results showed that with acid rain stress increasing, the red and white clover seed germination(germination potential, germination rate, germination index and vigor index) and seedling biomass(fresh weight and dry weight) were significantly inhibited, but the decreasing degree of red clover was lower than that of white clover. Therefore, the seed germination and seedling growth of two clover were inhibited by the simulated acid rain, but the red clover was well tolerant and could be chose for production practice in acidic soil or severe acid rain areas.
