Abstract:
The effects of different mass concentrations(10,20,40,80 mg/L) of glycine betaine(GB) on the germination and seedling physiological characteristics of Coriandrum sativum seeds were studied by using 9% polyethylene glycol(PEG-6000) to simulate drought stress, the blank control(ck) was treated with distilled water without PEG, the conditional control(CH)was treated with PEG without GB. The results showed that compared with ck group, the germination rate, germination potential, germination index and vitality index of coriander seeds significantly decreased, the chlorophyll content of seedlings significantly decreased, the activities of peroxidase(POD)and catalase(CAT)significantly increased, the contents of malondialdehyde(MDA), proline(Pro) and soluble protein increased significantly under PEG simulated drought stress. Compared with CH group, the germination percentage, germination potential, germination index and vitality index of coriander seeds increased firstly and then decreased with the increase of exogenous GB concentration, the contents of chlorophyll, POD and CAT in coriander seedlings increased firstly and then decreased, while the contents of MDA, Pro and soluble protein decreased firstly and then increased. The relaeased effect of 20 mg/L GB on the germination and seedling growth of coriander seeds was the most significant, significantly improved the drought resistance of coriander.
