Abstract:
Eight self-selected waxy maize inbred lines were prepared into 32 combinations according to incomplete diallel crossing, and the combining ability of seven main characters such as plant height and ear height, was analyzed. The results showed that the GCA effects of 7 traits such as plant height and ear height were significantly different among the parents, and the SCA effects were significantly different among the combinations. The four inbred lines(M 7, F 4, M 1 and M 2) showed good comprehensive performance, and had great breeding potential. They were easy to produce a cross combination with good characters, which could be used in the future waxy maize breeding. M 7×F 4 was a high-stalk and big-spike variety, which had a good utilization prospect under the premise of lodging resistance. According to genetic parameter estimation, plant height, ear height, ear length, bald tip length and ear rows should be selected in early generation. It was appropriate to select the middle and late generation for ear diameter and row grain number.
