Abstract:
Using the common variety Zhendan 958 in spring maize area, the effect of VDAL seed-soaking on seed germination, seedling growth, physiological and biochemical parameters and root activity of maize under low temperature stress. The results showed that different concentrations of VDAL could significantly promote seed germination and plant growth under low temperature stress. At the concentration of 2.0g/L, the effect was most obvious, the germination rate and germination index were 13.95% and 86.63% higher than those of the control. VDAL seed soaking could increase chlorophyll content, proline and malondialdehyde content in maize leaves, and improve root activity after low temperature stress. After 14 days stress, the chlorophyll content of treatment treated with VDAL gradually recovered, and the treatment of 2.0 g/L could recover to the pre-stress level, while the control recovered more slowly, the chlorophyll content of 2.0 g/L treatment was 90.24% higher than that of the control. After 14 days stress, the contents of proline and malondialdehyde decreased in leaves treated with vitamin VDAL, the root activity treated with VDAL gradually recovered, the root activity of 2.0 g/L treatment was 162.5% higher than that of the control. The study showed that the seed germination and seedling growth of maize could be significantly promoted by a suitable dose of VDAL seed-soaking.
