Abstract:
In order to make efficient use of millet germplasm resources, correlation analysis, principal component analysis and cluster analysis were conducted on phenotypic characteristics of germplasm resources collected in different leagues(cities) of Inner Mongolia, so as to screen ones suitable for local planting and select excellent parents from materials with rich genetic resources diversity to make high-quality combinations. The results showed that the phenotypic genetic diversity was moderate, and there were significant correlations among various traits. The growth period was significantly positively correlated with yield, grain size, stem diameter and internode number, the time from heading to ripening was significantly positively correlated with panicle weight, and the panicle weight was significantly positively correlated with yield. By comprehensive clustering and principal component analysis, three suitable planting materials with appropriate growth period, appropriate plant height and high yield were selected as follows: red millet(Y-22) from Ulanqab City, yellow millet(Y-25) from Ulanqab City and Xiangshanbaimaomaogu(Y-30) from Tongliao city. The selected materials canld be used as good donor parents for the genetic improvement of key traits of millet, and were high quality germplasm resources for millet breeding in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
