Abstract: In this study, through the field investigation of Impatiens plants in 5 regions of southwest Sichuan（Emei Mountain, Hongya County, Baoxing County, Yanyuan County, Yanbian County）, based on analysis of the geographical distribution and morphological characteristics of balsamina, and analytic hierarchy process（AHP） was used to evaluate and analyze above resources. The results showed that a total of 22 species of Impatiens were collected in this area, and distributed at the altitude of 700-2 600 m, most of which mainly distributed at the altitude of 1 400-2 600 m, accounted for 68.0% of the total species. All the species mostly grew in the mountain roadside, grassland, underforest wetland and other places with high relative humidity, whose plant height ranged from 20 cm to 140 cm; flower color were rich including white, purple, yellow and pink etc, among which most of them were yellow, accounted for 54% of the total species; leaf length from 1.85 to 14.95 cm, leaf width from 1.32 to 4.64 cm and leaf area from 2.55 to 33.79 cm~2; and seed diameter from 1.87 to 5.00 mm and 1 000-seed weight from 0.840 to 8.578 g. According to the comprehensive analysis, the 22 kinds of Impatiens were divided into three grades. 9 kinds of Impatiens in grade Ⅰ（＞ 3.5 points） were preferred for large-scale development and application, 3 kinds of Impatiens in grade Ⅱ（3.0-3.5 points） were suitable for moderate promotion and application, and 10 kinds of Impatiens in grade Ⅲ（＜ 3.0 points） were suitable for small scope or not recommended for development and application. In summary, Impatiens plant resources in the southwest Sichuan were rich and diverse, with many good characteristics including peculiar flower shape, rich and gorgeous flower colors and high ornamental values.
