Research on Seed Germination Properties of Rare and Endangered Plant Etlingera yunnanensis

  • In this experiment, the seeds of the field population of Etlingera yunnanensis were used as materials to measure the seed morphology, thousand-grain weight and water content, and different treatment methods were explored(untreated, normal temperature soaking, grinding, 60 ℃ hot water soaking, 60 ℃ hot water soaking after grinding), different temperatures(15 ℃, 20 ℃, 25 ℃, 30 ℃), and different collection times(July, August, September). The effects of 80% concentrated sulfuric acid soaking for different time(30 s, 1 min, 2 min, 5 min), and different concentration(100 mg/L, 200 mg/L, 500 mg/L) of gibberellin solution soaking for different time(6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours) on seed germination. The results showed that the 1 000-grain weight of the seed was(24.56±0.11)g, and the water content was(18.97±0.72)%. The influence of temperature on seed germination rate was not significant, but the influence of collection time on seed germination rate was great. The germination rate of seeds harvested in July was 0, and the germination rate of seeds harvested in September was 73.67%. The seeds soaked in concentrated sulfuric acid did not germinate. Gibberellin treatment could improve the germination rate and shorten the germination time of seeds. After soaking 200 mg/L gibberellin solution for 6 hours, the germination rate was 84.33% and the germination time was 15 days earlier.
