Comprehensive Evaluation on Yield and Stability of Winter Wheat Varieties in Xinjiang Areas Based on GGE Double-plotted Map

  • In order to test the adaptability, yield and stability of winter wheat varieties in different regions of Xinjiang, as well as the differentiation and similarity of different test areas, the yield, plant height, grain number per spike and 1 000-grain weight of 8 varieties in 6 test sites of Xinjiang wheat production areas were comprehensively analyzed and evaluated by GGE biplot analysis. The results showed that genotype, environment and interaction between genotype and environment had significant effects on yield. The interaction between variety and environment and the square sum of environment accounted for 37.62% and 35.82% of the total square sum, respectively. Jindongmai029 ranked second for high yield and first for stable yield, and had the best comprehensive performance. It was an ideal variety for yield traits. The highest yield was found in Baicheng County, and the highest yield was found in Xindong18, which was 13.91% higher than Jindongmai028, the lowest variety. Based on the results of regional differences, the test sites could be divided into two ecological regions: Changji, Emin, Kashgar and Baicheng were one ecological region, and Xindong18 had the best adaptability in this ecological region. Qitai and Yining city were another ecological area, and Jindongmai008 had the best adaptability in this ecological area. It could be concluded that the factors that had significant influence on the yield of winter wheat were variety, environment and interaction effect between variety and environment, and the important cause of yield variation was interaction effect between variety and environment. The GGE biplot was used to identify the variation of variety yield and other traits in different ecological regions. The results showed that Xindong18, as the best variety in comprehensive performance, had high promotion value and could obtain high yield in Changji, Emin, Kashgar and Baicheng counties.
