Review of the Mobilization and Change of Seed Storage Materials During Germination

  • Seed germination is the beginning of plant life, and this process requires the mobilization of various storage materials to provide nutrients and energy. Therefore, storage materials are essential for seed germination. In this paper, the effects of main storage substances(e.g. sugar, protein, fat and phosphorus) on seed germination, mobilization and metabolic changes during seed germination were surveyed. Meanwhile, compared with the seeds after deterioration(aging), the effects of deterioration on seed germination and vigor were analyzed based on the changes of storage materials. Also, the future research direction in this field was prospected. These results are of great theoretical significance for comprehensively analyzing and studying the mechanism of seed germination and deterioration from multiple perspectives.
