Analysis on Ploidy and Wild Actinidia chinensis Resources in Zigui County, Hubei Province

  • In order to investigate the species and distribution of wild Actinidia chinensis in Zigui, Hubei. A comprehensive survey was conducted on wild Actinidia chinensis plants across 12 townships in Zigui County. Morphological classification studies were carried out, and the chromosome ploidy of various Actinidia chinensis species was determined using flow cytometry. The findings revealed that wild Actinidia chinensis was prevalent in all 12 townships of Zigui County, with eight species(including varieties) found. The altitude distribution range spans were from 600 to 2 000 m, with three types distributed throughout the county. Actinidia chinensis, Quyuan Town had six distribution types, making it the most abundant area for wild Actinidia chinensis resources. Flow cytometry(FCM) identified four ploidy levels in 167 samples from eight species, namely diploid, tetraploid, hexaploid and octaploid, of which the chromosome ploidy of Actinidia laevissima was first reported.
