The Effect of Overexpression of JcFT Gene on Nicotiana tabacum Agronomic Traits

  • Flowering locus T(FT) gene encoded florigen protein, also known as protein hormone. Overexpression of this gene in plants often leads to significantly premature flowering, which is one of the important potential genes for creating germplasm resources of precocious plants, affecting plant growth and development. In this study, the effects of FT on several agronomic characters of Nicotiana tabacum were analyzed. The results showed that overexpression of JcFT(FT of Jatruopha curcas L.) significantly changed the size and morphology of Nicotiana tabacum roots, stems and leaves, while the flower structure did not change significantly.
