Abstract: The research and development tendency of the ethanol from plant fiber material were summarized in this paper. The emphases of the future research in this field were prospected. It is proposed that the producing ethanol from plant fiber material will gradually form an important industry. The research on pretreatment of plant fiber materials, mechanics of the fiber degradation, present generation biological technology, new methods of hydrolysis and highly efficiency utilization of the resources must be strengthened.
