Study on Influence of MoS2 Plant Oil-based Nanofluid on Drilling Performance of GH4169 Nickel-based Alloy

  • In order to investigate the tribological mechanism at the micro-lubricated drilling interface, plant oil-based MoS2 nanofluids were prepared using castor oil as the base oil with mass fractions of 1%,2%,and 3%.A micro-lubricated drilling experimental platform was established to conduct drilling experiments on nickel-based high-temperature alloy GH4169 under dry cutting, pure castor oil micro-lubrication, and different mass fraction MoS2 nanofluid micro-lubrication conditions. The influence of these lubrication methods on the drilling performance of nickel-based alloys was compared and analyzed. The results showed that MoS2 nanofluids can reduce average cutting temperatures by over 100 ℃,decrease tool wear by up to 75%,improve surface quality, and extend tool life by eight times. These improvements are mainly attributed to the thermal conductivity of nano-particles which reduces chip adhesion.Additionally, repair functions provided by nano-particles can fill in tiny gaps on cutting edges, further extending tool life.
