Abstract: Agricultural mechanization is a systematic engineering which needs coordination from many aspects. Agricultural machinery test ＆ appraisal and agricultural mechanization technology extension are two important components of agricultural mechanization management and have played an important role in promoting the development of agricultural mechanization. As a new round of institutional reform is deepening, the agricultural machinery appraisal and extension institutions in the most provinces in China were merged or reorganized. Facing the new situation and requirements, the working concepts, methods and measures of the agricultural machinery appraisal and extension institutions need to be adjusted in time, and it is more necessary to cooperate closely with each other, and work in the same direction. In particular, the institutions at the ministerial and provincial level should play a leading role, constantly explore and innovate, integrate superior resources, and jointly promote the development of the industry. This paper gives a brief overview of the current situation and main responsibilities and tasks of the appraisal and extension institutions and teams, systematically analyses their relationship and characteristics from organization structure, working mode, funds investment, the test contents and so on. It is proposed to establish the concept of collaborative development, establish a joint consultation mechanism, innovate the collaborative work model, build an information exchange platform, and strengthen the training of talent teams. It is recommended to promote the coordinated development of appraisal and promotion, in order to provide useful reference for further improving the appraisal and promotion work in the new era, and jointly promoting the high-quality development of agricultural mechanization.
