Abstract: The level of agricultural mechanization is the basis for developing efficient agriculture in hilly and mountainous areas. Guizhou is a typical karst landform. As the provincial capital of Guizhou, 87.64% of the land is mountainous and hilly in Guiyang. It’s own mountain features have caused certain obstacles to the use of agricultural machinery and the popularization of agricultural mechanization. Taking Guiyang City as an example, this paper discusses how to develop modern mountain characteristic and efficient agriculture. This paper analyzes the current situation of the application and promotion of agricultural machinery in Guizhou Province and Guiyang City. Based on the survey data of farmers, the bottleneck problems affecting the development of mountain agricultural machinery such as insufficient overall planning, serious loss of labor force, insufficient penetration rate of agricultural machinery and poor demonstration role of industrial park are summarized. And this paper puts forward some strategies suitable for the development with modern mountain characteristics in Guiyang, such as efficient agricultural mechanization with high standard farmland throughout the village and township, strengthening the cultivation of agricultural machinery talents and developing and strengthening industrial parks.
