Impact of high standard farmland construction policy and farm machinery services on farm household income

  • Based on the inter-provincial panel data, the mechanism of the impact of the implementation of the high-standard farmland construction policy on farmers’ income is empirically tested by using the continuous DID, mediation model, and the research conclusion is obtained as follows: the implementation of the high-standard farmland construction policy significantly promotes the growth of farmers’ income. The mechanism test results show that the implementation of high standard farmland construction policy can improve farmers’ income by promoting the development of agricultural machinery services. The heterogeneity test results show that the implementation of the high standard farmland construction policy has a significant effect on the increase of farmers’ income in the mountainous and plain areas and in the eastern, central and western regions with different levels of economic development, but the marginal contribution of the high standard farmland construction policy to the increase of farmers’ income is greater in the mountainous and east-central regions than in the plain and western regions. Therefore, it is suggested to comprehensively promote the construction of high-standard farmland and give full play to its income-generating effects, improve the agricultural socialization service system and promote the development of agricultural machinery services, and coordinate the development of the region and formulate differentiated policies, etc.
