Design and test of feeding roller of round baler based on SolidWorks Simulation

  • Feeding roller has an important influence on the working efficiency of round baler. In order to improve the feeding efficiency and reduce the failure rate, a feeding roller with three feeding forks arranged in a single row is designed. The main drum length of the feeding roller is designed to be 1 370 mm, with 23 feeding forks distributed on the drum, and the working diameter of the feeding forks is designed to be 550 mm. In order to avoid the problem of insufficient structural strength and resonance of the feeding roller in the process of working, a three-dimensional model and structure design of round baler is set up by using SolidWorks software, Statics and Modal Analysis of feeding roller is based on SolidWorks Simulation software.The result of analysis show that the maximum displacement roller is 2. 77 mm, the deformation is only 0. 5%, the maximum stress of the feeding roller is 378 MPa, which is less than the respective material strength limit. The first natural angle frequency is 1 117. 3 rad/s, which is very different from working angle frequency, that is 16. 75 rad/s, so the feeding roller will not produce resonance phenomenon during working process. The field test process showed that the round baler had smooth feeding, no blockage, and clean feeding. The field test showed that the round baler feed was smooth, unblocked and clean. The straw bale density of the round baler was 161. 4 kg/m~3, the baling rate was 99. 6%, the productivity was 23 t/h, the feeding roll was not damaged, and the design of the feeding roll was reasonable and reliable.
