Abstract: Three Chlorophytum comosum varieties were used to investigate the relationship between the root primary xylem archy and C.comosum varieties,diameter of the roots and living conditions by using sections cut free-hand and stained with Safranin.The root primary xylem archy in the roots of different varieties were different.The root primary xylem archy in the roots of C.comosum in soil culture were also different from those under hydroponic condition,and the number of xylem bundles in the roots of C.comosum under hydroponic conditions was much less than that in soil culture.Under hydroponic conditions,there was a positive correlation between the number of xylem bundles in the roots of C.comosum and the diameter of the roots,however,the root xylem archy in C.comosum ’Yinxin’ and ’Yinbian’ has no correlation with the roots diameter of C.comosum.
