Abstract
In order to clarify the appropriate concentration of sodium benzoate suitable for the preservation of cut carnation flowers, 150, 200, 250, 300 mg/L sodium benzoate preservative solution were added to the base vase solution to treatment cut carnation flowers. The morphological and physiological and biochemical indicators of cut flowers were measured every 2 days. The results showed that the addition of different concentrations of sodium benzoate in vase could prolong the vase life of cut carnation flowers, improve the water status and the quality of cut flowers. Compared with the control, there was no significant difference in the preservation effect of vase solution with 150 mg/L and 200 mg/L sodium benzoate on cut carnation flowers, while there was a significant difference in the preservation effect for 250 mg/L and 300 mg/L sodium benzoate solution(P<0.05). Comprehensive comparison, the order of the preservation effect of sodium benzoate mass concentrations on cut carnation flowers from high to low was 250, 300, 200, 150 mg/L.
