Research Progress on Low Loss Loading, Unloading and Transportation Technology and Equipment of Potato

  • The transportation, loading, unloading, and warehousing processes are essential for the transfer of potatoes from the field to storage. However, these processes are highly susceptible to mechanical damage, which remains a primary cause of the relatively high post-harvest losses of potatoes in China. China’s potato production exhibits significant variations in scale, leading to a pronounced diversity in transportation, loading, unloading, and warehousing techniques and equipment. Consequently, this paper systematically reviews complementary transportation and handling equipment for potato storage in China and internationally. It evaluates the technical characteristics of this equipment and, in consideration of factors such as operational scale, storage processes, and stakeholder types, provides an appropriateness assessment of the technology. It is expected that this review will provide reference for the improvement of post harvest technical equipment level of potatoes.
